SCHOLARSHIPS
NACDL offers a number of discounted and full scholarships. To apply for any of the following scholarships, send a letter of no more than two pages identifying to which scholarship you are applying and expressing interest and the reason you believe you should receive the grant. E-mail the letter to NACDL Director of EventsTamara Kalacevic, at tkalacevic@nacdl.org - or fax it to 202-872-8690. All applications must be submitted before registering for the seminar and received by June 28, 2013. NACDL MEMBERSHIP AND RESERVATION AT THE HOST HOTEL ARE REQUIRED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS.
Needs-Based Scholarships: Based on need, scholarships are available to NACDL members for up to 50% off the seminar fee of $399. Approved recipients are responsible for the remainder of the tuition fee, which is $200. Scholarship fee includes seminar tuition and a free download of the seminar written materials. Hard copies are available at an additioanl cost. Travel, hotel, and other costs are not included.
Amy Seidman Memorial Scholarship: In memory of long-time NACDL member Amy Seidman, who prematurely passed away in 2003, a special fund was established by the Foundation for Criminal Justice for financially needy NACDL members to attend the Annual Meeting. One scholarship is available to include seminar tuition, admission to all evening social events, and materials. Travel, hotel, and other costs are not included.
Diversity Development Scholarship Fund: NACDL's Diversity Development Fund is provided to assist minority lawyers to attend the Annual seminar in San Francisco; up to five scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships include seminar tuition, admission to all evening social events, and materials. Travel, hotel, and other costs are not included. Consideration will be based on length of membership in NACDL, financial need (though not a requirement), nature of the applicant's practice, and commitment to the criminal defense bar.
