Program Summary: In the past decade, the existence of shaken baby syndrome (SBS) has been called into serious question by biomechanical studies, the medical and legal literature, and the media. This program explores those recent scientific developments, as well as the case law of recent and historical shaken baby syndrome & abusive head trauma cases. You will learn in-depth about the anatomy of science-dependent SBS prosecutions, how to challenge the state's experts, common errors committed by forensic examiners and the prevalence of false confessions in SBS cases.
