CLE Credit Hours: Up to 13.8 self-study CLE credits, including 1 ethics credit. Please confirm with your state's CLE commission to ensure this program is available for self-study CLE certification.

Program Summary: The government has the power and resources to employ the full machinery of the state to scrutinize our clients: forensic computer analysis, DNA, forensic interviews of children, sexual assault exams, risk evaluations, and seemingly endless investigative techniques. Now is the time to equip our arsenals and fight back. When it comes to representing a client accused of sexual misconduct, we need to know their methods inside out and fine-tune our own preparation and trial skills to be successful at defending or mitigating these challenging charges—while giving particular consideration to wide-spread and ill-informed public fears. This 16-hour DVD program will address cutting-edge topics including file-sharing child pornography cases, DNA evidence, understanding adolescent complainants, uncovering suggestiveness in child interviews and child sexploitation cases, and representing female defendants. It will provide effective strategies for addressing key parts of the trial such as the SANE exam, cross-examination of the complainant, and voir dire. You will also learn about new investigative techniques, collateral consequences of a conviction, how to prepare your clients for trial, probation, and prison, and, how to maintain your own sanity and stress levels when representing a client accused of a sex offense.
