Preventing Wrongful Convictions: Eyewitness ID & False Confessions
CLE Credit: Up to 14 Hours of Self-Study CLE credit, where authorized. Please confirm with your state's CLE commission to ensure this program is available for self-study CLE certification.
Program Summary: Mistaken eyewitness identifications and false and coerced confessions are two of the three leading causes of wrongful convictions; according to the Innocence Project's study of 325 exoneration's. This cannot continue. In the first half of this 2-part DVD training, you will learn how to litigate the admissibility of identifications using the latest psychological research so you can actively work on changing the law, how to work with and cross-examine experts, and try a winning case. The second half of this program will focus exclusively on false confessions; experts in the field will discuss how law enforcement interrogators coerce false confessions, while experienced trial lawyers will outline winning cross-examination techniques, trial strategies, and how to select a jury that can best accept your theory of the case.
