Program Summary: Cross-examination is a fundamental tool in the trial lawyer's toolbox, and there is no part of trial practice that can be more difficult or rewarding, but you have to know the limitations in order to be the most effective. This seminar will teach you to ethically “Walk the Line” while setting-up your cross-examination in a variety of different scenarios, as specific techniques and paradigms for crossing specialized witnesses each present their own unique challenges. Our faculty of nationally recognized experts and seasoned practitioners will share their proven and time tested methods for cross-examining. You will hone your cross-examination skills and learn to apply them across the board in your trial practice, from preparation, to conveying a story through cross, to taking down that snitch on your way to an acquittal. We'll offer specific sessions addressing methods that are common to all trials including impeaching witnesses, uncovering biases, and using technology during cross-examination, as well as how to cross some of the most challenging of witnesses - kids, experts, cops, and snitches, among others.
