Program Summary: Coerced confessions are one of the three leading causes of wrongful convictions; according to the Innocence Project's study of 325 exoneration's. 27% of wrongfully convicted cases involved a false confession. This cannot continue. In many jurisdictions, court rulings on the admissibility of false confessions lag hopelessly behind the science. In this program, you will learn the science and theory behind false confessions; experts in the field will discuss how law enforcement interrogators coerce false confessions, while experienced trial lawyers will outline winning cross-examination techniques, trial strategies, and how to select a jury that can best accept your theory of the case.
