A. The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL):
1. Recognizes that it is a constitutionally mandated state obligation to fully fund any and all programs necessary to promulgate the effective assistance of the right to counsel consistent with the dictates of Gideon v. Wainwright.
2. Deplores the repeated failures to fulfill this constitutional mandate throughout the state.
3. Supports all lawful efforts by the Bar and the public to influence the states in fulfilling their right to counsel obligations.
4. Will respond on a case-by-case basis, in compliance with law, to events affecting states and localities failures to support and fulfill right to counsel obligations.
