In 2017, NACDL mobilized members in South Carolina to advance H 3209, legislation to expand expungement eligibility. NACDL issued several legislative action alerts and conducted further targeted outreach to key legislators. In May 2018, Governor Henry McMaster vetoed H 3209. The following month, the governor’s veto was overridden with a vote of 108-1 in the House and 53-5 in the Senate.
