NACDL opposes the use of facial recognition technology by law enforcement.

In 2022, the New Jersey Attorney General considered creating a statewide policy on the use of facial recognition technology by law enforcement and solicited comments from the public and other interested parties on how the policy should be crafted. NACDL signed on to an essay, published March 9, 2022, urging the Attorney General to ban the use of facial recognition technology by police.
