50 State Juror Project

Using the Juror Selection and Compensation Laws 50-state Database

Juror Selection Map Juror Compensation Map

The 50-state statutory database allows users to filter the maps by key categories, compare state policies across a range of topics, and review all relevant statutory text for any individual state.

Please note that database encompasses state statutory law only. It does not include non-statutory law such as case law, agency regulations, or other policies that may further impact the laws in a state.

The database can be navigated by selecting filters to the left-hand side of the maps and clicking Apply. To compare statutory elements across states, select the boxes to the left of the state names in the table, scroll to the bottom of the table, and select “compare states” to display a table with only the selected states included. This comparison information can also be exported as an Excel spreadsheet by selecting the “Save as Excel” button.

The maps themselves are also interactive and allow a user to select an individual state to review in full. To do this, simply click on a state and you will be directed to a state-specific page with the relevant text listed for all compiled statutory components.
