As the proliferation of domestic drones increases, states across the nation are responding. While law enforcement and other governmental agencies are eager to get their hands on this eye-in-the-sky technology, there are currently almost no safeguards in place to protect citizens’ civil liberties.

Government bodies throughout the country are working to change that and at the moment, legislation has been introduced at the federal level, in most states, and in numerous municipalities. These bill address and develop regulations and restrictions on the usage of domestic drones in relation to: Privacy warrants for surveillance and evidence gathering, data retention, weaponization, accountability.
