HF 10 - Establishes that a political subdivision must: (1) allow the commissioner to review a proposed ordinance affecting the operation of an unmanned aircraft; and (2) notify the commissioner whenever the political subdivision adopts an ordinance affecting the operation of unmanned aircraft. Defines a “small unmanned aircraft” as an aircraft that weighs less than 55 pounds and is operated without the possibility of human intervention from within or on the aircraft. Provides that any small unmanned aircraft system in which the unmanned aircraft weighs less then 55 pounds at takeoff, including payload and anything affixed to the aircraft, either: (1) must be registered in the state for an annual fee of $25; or (2) is not subject to registration or an annual fee if it is owned and operated solely for recreational purposes. Owners of small unmanned aircraft systems that meet these requirements must, at the time of registration, provide proof of insurability and maintain records and proof that each flight was insured for the established limits. SF 3258 - This bill would establish that knowingly flying an unmanned aerial vehicle over a state correctional facility without the written consent of the commissioner is a misdemeanor. If the person uses the vehicle to record images or attempt to introduce items that are not contraband, it is a gross misdemeanor. View the Bill
SF 3072 - This bill limits law enforcement’s ability to use unmanned aerial vehicles and requires that any use by law enforcement must be documented. The bill provides that any information obtained by law enforcement in violation of these rules is not admissible as evidence in a criminal or civil proceeding. View the Bill
