Washington, DC (August 12, 2014) – Houston attorney Nicole DeBorde was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). The election results were announced at the Association’s 57th annual meeting in Philadelphia on August 2.
DeBorde practices criminal defense with Bires, Schaffer & DeBorde. Prior to this, she served as a Harris County District Attorney. DeBorde served as president of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association from 2010-2011 and served as President-Elect from 2009-2010. She has served as Chair, Chair-Elect, Council Member, Board Member, and Committee Member of the Houston Bar Association and has served as a Board Member for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and is a member of the American Inns of Court. DeBorde remains active in these organizations in many ways, including by presenting at continuing legal education seminars to benefit the defense bar.

In 2007, she received the Harris County Criminal Defense Lawyers Presidential Award.
DeBorde graduated from the University of Houston in 1990, where she completed her Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She then attended the University of Houston Law Center, where she obtained J.D. in 1993.
