New Jersey Attorney Alan Silber Elected to National Criminal Defense Bar Assn. Board of Directors

Washington, DC (Aug. 19, 2016) – Attorney Alan Silber of Hackensack, NJ, was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at the Association's 59th annual meeting in Palm Beach, FL, on August 13.

Silber currently practices at the law firm of Pashman Stein Walder and Hayden and concentrates on federal and state complex criminal litigation, including many cases of white collar crime—money laundering, mail fraud, and health care fraud. He was a founding member of the New Jersey Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a founding member of the board of directors of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Silber is a Supreme Court of New Jersey certified criminal trial attorney, a certification achieved by fewer than three percent of attorneys in New Jersey. He has litigated cases in the United States Supreme Court and five United States Courts of Appeals.  

Silber has spoken at seminars on criminal defense all across the country and has articles published in The Champion, Rutgers Law Review, and The New Jersey Law Journal. Through his dedication to criminal justice, he received the Al Horn Award at the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) Legal Seminar in 2011. Silber was recognized by Best Lawyers in the field of criminal defense, and Super Lawyers® magazine from 2008-16 for excellence in white collar criminal defense. He also earned Martindale Hubbell's AV Preeminent peer rating.

He is a long time member of NACDL and has served on the: Executive Committee, Nominating Committee, Amicus Committee (Vice-Chair, Fourth Circuit), Lawyers Assistance Committee (Current Third Circuit Coordinator and former Fourth Circuit Coordinator), and the White Collar Crime Committee. He has also chaired the Drug Policy Committee.

Silber received his B.A. from Duke University and his LL.B. from Columbia University.

    Nation’s Defense Bar Reiterates Opposition to Actions Against Law Firms – Washington, DC (March 18, 2025) – The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) remains deeply concerned over recent executive orders targeting law firms, most recently Paul Weiss and Perkins Coie, and repeats its call to uphold the right to counsel and the independence of the legal profession. Despite a ruling blocking the action against Perkins Coie, the administration has continued to target law firms representing disfavored clients and positions, threatening the right to a zealous defense.
