Reno, NV Defense Lawyer John Arrascada Elected to Serve on the Board of Directors of Nation’s Criminal Defense Bar

Washington, DC (March 4, 2025) – Reno, NV Defense Lawyer John Arrascada was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at the Association’s Midwinter Board Meeting in Charlotte, NC. He joins those who are currently serving their terms on the NACDL Board of Directors.

Arrascada is the founder of the Law Office of John Arrascada LLC. He practices throughout Nevada in all State and Federal courts. He represents clients against a range of charges, including DUIs, domestic batteries, drug-related violations, sex crimes, violent offenses, white-collar crimes, and theft. He also provides indigent defense in rural Nevada counties. He previously served as Washoe County Public Defender, managing the 75 attorneys, investigators, and staff of the Washoe County Public Defender’s office. He served on county and state committees and boards related to the criminal justice system and as a member of the State Sentencing Commission from its inception to March 2023 and from 2024 to current. 

He has been an active member of NACDL since 1996. Since 2012, he has been the Vice-Chair of the Defending Modern Drug Cases CLE and currently serves on NACDL’s Public Defense and Fourth Amendment Advocacy Committees. Arrascada was an Affiliate Representative for the Board of Directors from 2015 through 2018 and a member of the Board of Directors from 2018 through 2020. He served as Board of Directors Parliamentarian from 2020 through 2021. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and the Washoe County Bar Association and was a member of the committee that created Nevada’s Statewide Rules for Criminal Procedure Arrascada received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from Boston College.

    Nation’s Defense Bar Reiterates Opposition to Actions Against Law Firms – Washington, DC (March 18, 2025)

    The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) remains deeply concerned over recent executive orders targeting law firms, most recently Paul Weiss and Perkins Coie, and repeats its call to uphold the right to counsel and the independence of the legal profession. Despite a ruling blocking the action against Perkins Coie, the administration has continued to target law firms representing disfavored clients and positions, threatening the right to a zealous defense.
