Trevor Parkes is Counsel & Project Director for the First Step Act Resource Center at the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). He leads the NACDL’s policy work ensuring the full implementation of the First Step Act and, in collaboration with FAMM, runs the Compassionate Release Clearinghouse. Before joining NACDL, he clerked in two federal district courts and was a litigation associate at a large law firm in Minneapolis. As an associate, he devoted hundreds of pro bono hours to immigration and asylum work, indigent defense, and criminal justice reform, including volunteering for the Compassionate Release Clearinghouse. He holds a B.A. from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
