Washington, DC (Aug. 8, 2012) – Candace C. Crouse, Senior Associate Attorney at Strauss Troy Co., LPA, was sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at the association’s 54th annual meeting in San Francisco, Calif., on July 28. She currently serves as a 6th Circuit Vice Chair on NACDL’s Amicus Curiae Committee.

Crouse, who is the current President and a Board member of the Greater Cincinnati Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (GCCDLA), has dedicated much of her career to criminal defense. One of the highlights of her service as GCCDLA treasurer was helping to secure donations for a scholarship fund for Hamilton County Assistant Public Defenders to attend the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. Crouse’s efforts helped to ensure that the program was not only fully funded, but led to the creation and funding of a second scholarship for the program. Her emphasis as an officer and board member of the GCCDLA has been on expanding the membership to include young, female and minority attorneys, as well as public defenders.  She is also committed to providing the greater Cincinnati criminal defense bar with inexpensive continuing legal education.

In addition to her private practice, she is pro bono counsel for the Volunteer Lawyers Project and has been selected by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio to serve on the Criminal Justice Act Appointment Panel in Cincinnati and Dayton.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Virginia University and received her law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law.
